The World of 1984 looms upon us

George Orwell’s  1984, is now rising on library bookshelves… Google searches are increasing…some people seem to be concerned. Sinclair Lewis’s 1930’s warning of a ‘Leader’ such as Trump in ‘It Can’t happen here”…is now being quoted, posted all over now….is someone trying to tell us something? while the new ‘Tweet’ President runs the nation by Tweets and Presidential ‘decrees’…(executive orders, legal but when is Enough?)..

“Lock her up,” “Trump that bitch,” “Build a wall,” overheard at a Trump Rally.

“A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one’s will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic,” George Orwell on mass hate. – “

“From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first, America first,” Donald Trump on America.

“There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party,” George Orwell on loyalty.”

Six quotes that show 2017 is already George Orwell’s 1984

George Orwell’s 1984 is most popular selling book on Amazon but there was already dystopia in 2017.

DON’T CALL ME.. at the White House.

I posted this in somewhat different format on Facebook, but an announcement from the White House today, that they are shutting down, the Phone comments and you can only do it online… well…

TODAY, TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2017

“DONT’ CALL ME …..”

I read, and suggest to everyone, the books of George Orwell, (Animal Farm, for lower reading levels)…Aldous Huxley, his ‘Brave New world’. but more specific to our situation..’IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE’. by Sinclair Lewis,
Note, BREAKING NEWS. !!!….So now Americans cannot comment to the WH via phone? “
Headlines ! Trump shuts down the public from calling the White House to protest or commentKenneth Lipp | January 24, 2017
“In response to overwhelming criticism, we’ll be removing our suggestions box.”
The Trump administration has cut the public off from contacting the White House via the main switchboard and comments line, reports ThinkProgress.
Now callers are all played a recorded message:
“Thank you for calling the White House comments line. The comment line is currently closed but your comment is important to the President and we urge you to send us a comment online at http://www.WhiteHouse.gov/contact or send us a message through Facebook messenger.”
A little preview from IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE.. “Once in the White House, Windrip institutes a backcountry version of the fascism then creeping over Europe. Lewis was never much of an artist, but what he lacked in style he made up for with social observation. Windrip is clearly modelled after Huey Long, the Louisiana demagogue, who was assassinated the month before “It Can’t Happen Here” was published.” And though a novel it may be, the gripes about Roosevelt and the New Deal here have the quality not of fiction but of reportage.”…any of this sound familiar in the seemingly ‘small little steps’ that the Dumpf Administration seems to be taking? I don’t wish to be a boy crying wolf and the comparison with early Nazis in Germany, but, in reading Lewis’ book, it might put you in a ‘anxious’ state, or worse… should we make these comparisons? Well, if the ‘shoe fits’ as they say.. Peace, if we can get it!!

My Favorite speech and words of MLK

The speech, I believe finally got him assassinated.. (we can’t have a black man speaking out against our wars!)…”Speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. against the “triple evils of racism, economic exploitation, and militarism.”

Convicted Murderer Dylann Roof’s Sentencing Hearing

Roof’s competency took focus in his opening statement today when he told the jury;“The point is I’m not going to lie to you,” Roof said. “There’s nothing wrong with me psychologically.”Roof also made a statement that he felt betrayed.  Coupled with things that he wrote in his journal, it paints the idea that Roof’s desire to murder Blacks was influenced by other White Supremacists who he assumed would do the same.

Well, in the age when our newly elected President to be,, communicates NOT with the press, which dutifully would be there for him to speak to them but with the same garbled, meaningless commentary or slurs that he had done for the last year of so, on the road to this national disgrace, but uses the social media (140 character limited) ‘Twitter’ to communicate, if you call it thatk… what can one say, when a young racist white man says, “There’s nothing wrong with me psychologically’.. I am sure there is a psychologist or two to disagree..but I think that whole idea of ‘white supremacy’ is an ILLNESS….which leads to, well, our entire history of violence, nation ‘building’, ? but, mostly, nation destroying, genocide, slavery, and government sanctioned murder.. read on… laugh, but cry..

Any way you calculate it, income inequality is getting worse

WE DON’T HAVE DEMOCRACY ANY LONGER.
Rising inequality has been particularly acute in the global center of world capitalism, the United States, and a quick examination of trends there are useful as capitalists elsewhere seek to emulate the new U.S. gilded age. Those at the top of the pyramid are grabbing ever more. The Economist reports:

“Including capital gains, the share of national income going to the richest 1% of Americans has doubled since 1980, from 10% to 20%, roughly where it was a century ago. Even more striking, the share going to the top 0.01%—some 16,000 families with an average income of $24m—has quadrupled, from just over 1% to almost 5%. That is a bigger slice of the national pie than the top 0.01% received 100 years ago.”

Systemic Disorder

A flurry of new reports have provided yet more data demonstrating that inequality is getting worse. All right, this does not qualify as a shock. But it really isn’t your imagination.

The economic crisis, nearly a decade on now, has been global in scope — working people most everywhere continue to suffer while the one percent are doing just fine. One measure of this is wages. A newly released report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development finds that median wages in the OECD’s 35 member countries are still below where they were in 2007. For the bottom 10 percent of wage earners, the news is worse; wages for this bottom decile have declined 3.6 percent since 2007. But wages have risen for the top 10 percent.

A year that WAS , and a year that WASN’T

I’m trying not to call names at this point, on all Social Media.. .does no good….in the long run… i have a split family, half or more of whom supported and /or voted for Mr. Trump…and just understanding that without considering half of my family ‘deplorables’ or some such…to think that some people who agreed with Mr Trump..when he called them ‘uneducated’…a joke to him? would defeat my purpose to just reply and call him, a ‘joke’.. he may well be,… what he is definitely, (supported by psychiatrists and my own psychologist) is a NARCISISIST, WITH PATHOLOGICAL TENDENCIES… others have added more to that.. but firstly, we must deal with this. Have we possibly had other Presidents, Vice Presidents, with similar traits? yes. But, I just heard Bernie Sanders again on Democracy Now, for an hour.. the One person I believe could have won this past election, had he been the Democratic Nominee.. There are many things i would say, we need to do and i only have ‘hopes’ at this point, having working hard this past year for the Sanders campaign and other progressives in my area… We need to follow, along with other things, as much as we agree with, the Bernie Sanders, ‘Our Revolution’ principles, other progressive groups, e.g. Citizen Action (of the Hudson Valley and others), MOveOn.org , Working Families party, and yes, the Green party for those who lean that way… But, we must work to include ALL valid candidates for the Presidency, and local progressives and progressive causes…

Two things upon my mind and the most important to me… One which I believe even Bernie Sanders (who took it seriously), is the possible ‘Near term Human Extinction’. due to Climate change, and possible extinction of many millions of species and ourselves? (I don’t trust any of the signatories of COP/Paris this past year)..and , Two, secondly, as far as we can enforce, is to fight, for the current, moment, our Constitutional, and Civil rights, in the Bill of Rights.. we have already lost SO many Rights, and are losing, seriously, our Free
