I am somewhat where she/ the author is, but maybe more ‘gods’ oriented in that I use the vernacular… or speech thereof and am comfortable at looking at the aliveness of Nature and its relationship to humanity and all living things… “But I also feel that my imaginative entanglement with the world of nature and spirit is as close to religion as I am likely to come in this life, and that it has been enormously rewarding, and that, on my saddest and most wearying days, my commitment to this path keeps me balanced and content.”
De Natura Deorum is a monthly column where we explore the beliefs of Naturalistic Pagans about the nature of deity. This essay was originally published at Peg Aloi’s blog The Witching Hour on the Patheos Pagan Channel.

The very first bill he introduced was H.R. 695 – the Guard and Reserve Family Protection Act of 1991. The purpose of the bill was to make sure that reserve and National Guard soldiers who were deployed to serve in the Gulf War were entitled to any pay they may have missed as a result of going to war, to ensure that their deployment wages were equal to their civilian wages.
Sanders’ career in Congress has been living testimony to the fact that opposing wars but supporting our soldiers are not mutually exclusive goals. He has been a consistent advocate for both active duty military and veterans, and there are now signs that those veterans are returning the favor, organizing for his campaign.
A Steadfast Advocate For Veterans
“He works for veterans. He’s not just saying that. He does do the work,” said Brenda Cruickshank a retired Army nurse who served as the past commander of the Vermont Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), over the summer. Indeed, last spring the national VFW presented Sanders with its 2015 Congressional Award:http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/why-veterans-are-supporting-bernie-sanders?akid=13598.222971.wzTG1Y&rd=1&src=newsletter1044574&t=2
Senator Sanders has taken firm positions on many of the issues we have been advocating for years: “The situation today is ominous,” Sanders said, referring to the continued slide of manufacturing and the erosion of the middle class. To reverse the trend, he is pushing for fair trade, not unfettered free trade that creates an incentive for American companies to shutter U.S. manufacturing facilities and move jobs overseas. As a member of Congress, Sanders led the opposition to NAFTA and voted against permanent normal trade relations with China. In the years since the battles in Congress, national polls indicate that the majority of Americans feel that free trade has hurt the U.S Bernie Sanders is fighting against corruption and for American citizens He supports infrastructure repair and creating American jobs. Senator Sanders believes that we need to overturn the Citizens United Decision and get the big money interest out of politics. Too Big To Fail – Too Big To Exist. He believes in breaking up the big banks and eliminating the concept of being too big to fail. He supports reinstating regulations on Wall Street and holding corporations accountable for their actions. He supports making college affordable or even free for all. He wants to provide healthcare for all of our citizens. He wants to expand Social Security and Medicaid. He wants to transform from fossil fuels to renewables.Rarely do you find a candidate so in tune with the needs of the working people. Even within our own group we rarely find so many on the same page with a single candidate. It is for these reasons that we endorse Bernie Sanders for President.
I USED TO THINK THE ‘THRIVE’ HAD A GOOD , BELIEVABLE MESSAGE , WELL. ON THE SURFACE YEAH, UNTIL YOU LOOK FURTHER..What’s wrong with the Thrive movement

Thrive is the name of a controversial film that asks, and attempts to answer, some of the deepest questions about the nature of the human condition and what is thwarting our chances to prosper. Lavishly funded, it features appealing imagery, beautiful music, and interviews with many leading progressives, including myself. Yet ten of us have signed a statement formally disassociating ourselves from the film.
In my case, the decision was especially difficult because there are aspects of Thrive I find inspiring, and its makers, Foster and Kimberly Gamble, are old friends. Why have Amy Goodman, Deepak Chopra, Paul Hawken, Edgar Mitchell, Vandana Shiva, John Perkins, Elisabet Sahtouris, Duane Elgin and Adam Trombly, as well as yours truly, gone to the trouble of signing our names to this public statement? The statement reads as follows:

JUST WROTE THIS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ASKED THEM TO SIGN AT LEAST ONE CREDO ACTION
OMEHOW THIS HAS BECOME ROUTINE’… Pres. Obama, Oct 1, 2015.
about the shooting on the college campus in Oregon yesteday..
“I’d ask the American people to think how they can get our government to change these laws, and to save lives, and to let young people grow up. And that will require a change of politics on this issue,” he said, adding that “this cause of continuing death for innocent people should be a factor” when voters choose which elected officials they want to support at the ballot box.
“And each time this happens,” he vowed, “I’m going to bring this up. Each time this happens I am going to say we can actually do something about it, but we’re going to have to change our laws.”
YES, WE DO HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS PROBLEM, BUT BUT WE ALSO HAVE MORE MASS SHOOTINGS THAN ANY NATION ON EARTH,, AND TO SAY THAT ‘NO LAW COULD HAVE STOPPED THIS SHOOTING IN OREGON’.. IS TIRED AND OLD, AND FALSE… “MANY’ DEATHS COULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED, WITHOUT TRYING WE JUST DON’T KNOW HOW MANY, BUT SOME COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED…. IMHO…
i know some of my friends and family could greatly disagree, but when will you think more about human beings, adults and children, innocents… instead, of worrying about some ‘minimal’ laws to captsure ‘some’ of these perpetrators before they kill more Americans.. we can do more.. )ME
I just took action to tell NRA supporters in Congress that their “thoughts and prayers” for the victims of gun violence are not enough when their hearts and votes are with the NRA. “
Remember, MOST NRA members and most Americans agree that more CAN and SHOULD be done.. Universal background checks ,in all states….etc…
