DON’T CALL ME.. at the White House.

I posted this in somewhat different format on Facebook, but an announcement from the White House today, that they are shutting down, the Phone comments and you can only do it online… well…

TODAY, TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2017

“DONT’ CALL ME …..”

I read, and suggest to everyone, the books of George Orwell, (Animal Farm, for lower reading levels)…Aldous Huxley, his ‘Brave New world’. but more specific to our situation..’IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE’. by Sinclair Lewis,
Note, BREAKING NEWS. !!!….So now Americans cannot comment to the WH via phone? “
Headlines ! Trump shuts down the public from calling the White House to protest or commentKenneth Lipp | January 24, 2017
“In response to overwhelming criticism, we’ll be removing our suggestions box.”
The Trump administration has cut the public off from contacting the White House via the main switchboard and comments line, reports ThinkProgress.
Now callers are all played a recorded message:
“Thank you for calling the White House comments line. The comment line is currently closed but your comment is important to the President and we urge you to send us a comment online at http://www.WhiteHouse.gov/contact or send us a message through Facebook messenger.”
A little preview from IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE.. “Once in the White House, Windrip institutes a backcountry version of the fascism then creeping over Europe. Lewis was never much of an artist, but what he lacked in style he made up for with social observation. Windrip is clearly modelled after Huey Long, the Louisiana demagogue, who was assassinated the month before “It Can’t Happen Here” was published.” And though a novel it may be, the gripes about Roosevelt and the New Deal here have the quality not of fiction but of reportage.”…any of this sound familiar in the seemingly ‘small little steps’ that the Dumpf Administration seems to be taking? I don’t wish to be a boy crying wolf and the comparison with early Nazis in Germany, but, in reading Lewis’ book, it might put you in a ‘anxious’ state, or worse… should we make these comparisons? Well, if the ‘shoe fits’ as they say.. Peace, if we can get it!!

A year that WAS , and a year that WASN’T

I’m trying not to call names at this point, on all Social Media.. .does no good….in the long run… i have a split family, half or more of whom supported and /or voted for Mr. Trump…and just understanding that without considering half of my family ‘deplorables’ or some such…to think that some people who agreed with Mr Trump..when he called them ‘uneducated’…a joke to him? would defeat my purpose to just reply and call him, a ‘joke’.. he may well be,… what he is definitely, (supported by psychiatrists and my own psychologist) is a NARCISISIST, WITH PATHOLOGICAL TENDENCIES… others have added more to that.. but firstly, we must deal with this. Have we possibly had other Presidents, Vice Presidents, with similar traits? yes. But, I just heard Bernie Sanders again on Democracy Now, for an hour.. the One person I believe could have won this past election, had he been the Democratic Nominee.. There are many things i would say, we need to do and i only have ‘hopes’ at this point, having working hard this past year for the Sanders campaign and other progressives in my area… We need to follow, along with other things, as much as we agree with, the Bernie Sanders, ‘Our Revolution’ principles, other progressive groups, e.g. Citizen Action (of the Hudson Valley and others), MOveOn.org , Working Families party, and yes, the Green party for those who lean that way… But, we must work to include ALL valid candidates for the Presidency, and local progressives and progressive causes…

Two things upon my mind and the most important to me… One which I believe even Bernie Sanders (who took it seriously), is the possible ‘Near term Human Extinction’. due to Climate change, and possible extinction of many millions of species and ourselves? (I don’t trust any of the signatories of COP/Paris this past year)..and , Two, secondly, as far as we can enforce, is to fight, for the current, moment, our Constitutional, and Civil rights, in the Bill of Rights.. we have already lost SO many Rights, and are losing, seriously, our Free

March Of Triumph

THOUGHTS ON A SUNDAY MORNING, (and it ain’t the CBS Sunday Morning).

First Sunday, weekend  after Trump’s election as President (of all the people?).

Trump talks of the ‘forgotten people’ but who does he mean by ‘forgotten’…?Are the Native Americans forgotten?, are the Latinos, and various Island immigrants forgotten… LGBTQ (myself included), religious  minorities, including Jews and Muslims, Sikhs, the ‘brown’ (all non white peoples) who have always been ‘less than’ in equality in all sections of our nation, socially, and economically.

Not least of all,  African  Americans, who have the second most unique place in American history, (after the Indigenous tribes and ‘nations’) and are inescapably intertwined in our history, including the worst War in our history, which we seem to be closer to  enacting than ever before in our history, the Civil War. What will we do, if all of the ‘other’ FORGOTTEN people’s are suddenly suspect, mass arrests, as seems to already have happened under the current administration, facing increased persecution of ‘our’ liberties;  free speech,  ‘Right of the People peaceably to assemble’, freedom of Religion, and all the rest of the First Amendment , et.al.

To deny what I have posted above is a certain American Hubris, or just outright ‘denial’ by those not only in power, but those who voted for Mr. Trump out of some sense of unknown ‘entitlement’ or being ‘wronged’ somehow.  I understand the anger, the lost jobs, the feeling that this nation is not what it used to be, but to turn to the oft chime of  thinking we need a ‘strong’ leader?  but, is that always the answer?

Already there have been terrible incidences of seeming ‘white hate’ against Muslim, Black, LGBTQ students in schools nationwide, racial message painted on Black churches and such. Will this increase? Will it become like the early days of Mussolini’s ‘black shirts’, or worse, Hitler’s SS?  This is not some Hollywood movie, or daydreaming on my part; it already seems like it could begin in many parts of our nation. [“Reports of hate crimes and intimidation of American Muslims and other minority groups have increased in the days since Donald Trump’s shock election victory on the back of the most xenophobic campaign in modern US history .” –http://www.thenational.ae/world/americas/hate-crime-and-islamophobia-increases-after-trump-victory%5D

So, where do we go? To whom do we turn? Our Constitution, already well ‘shredded’ during the Clinton and Bush II, and Obama administrations?   During the first decades after WW II, we taxed the rich or richer, at 80 to 90 %, we had a nation where for the first time, War veterans could easily afford college, could easily afford a home on a single family income.  All that was slowly destroyed, from the Reagan backlash aministration, through all those that followed, yes, even the Democrats.  We seem to all want the equality of income of that era ,where the CEO’

S of companies made, perhaps, 30-40 times the common worker but not HUNDREDS of times the common worker. This is why Bernie Sanders offered real solutions, and seemingly Mr Trump, seems to have promised the same, if that’s what he meant by ‘Great again’?

We, on the sidelines that, whether we voted for Democrats, Independents, Green Party (my own choice, not supporting either ‘corrupt, Corporation owned ‘parties’), Libertarians, or other, await what’s to come. Some with renewed fear, some with expectations, some not knowing what is to come, and those who voted for Mr. Trump, I imagine, await the Great promises he made. Can he bring this to them? Will he work within the confines of our Laws, and Constitution? Or will he, as some fear, be the ‘loose cannon’ or ‘free speaker’ of the recent Campaign season, most of which was reprehensible in its Inhumanity, to more than half the Nation.   The Independents or ‘non voters’ of this recent Election, are about 1/3 or more.  Less citizens voted in both ‘parties’ than in the last Presidential election (stats provided upon request), and both candidates were the most ‘unpopular’ in our election history, in most polls.  (“..with registered voters, the two are basically tied: Clinton has 59% unfavorability and Trump has 60%.” – http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/08/31/poll-clinton-trump-most-unfavorable-candidates-ever/89644296/).

Not to go on forever in this strain, I will however, continue to blog and write as things occur through this new administration, on its actions, the populace’s reactions and much more.

I am just one voice in millions wondering the same, this first week, after a trying, tiring, exhausting, election for everyone concerned.  Peace and hope to you all, including everyone who may read this.

Why do ‘Black lives matter’, or better, why is ‘black lives matter’ a thing?

In response to this recent post by my Facebook friend, Allen W Anderson, “The media says an attack on police is an attack on all of us, well excuse me but an attack by police on any innocent American is an attack on all of us unless you’re a racist. Many don’t understand just how instrumental black lives matter is to tearing down the current police state of corporate tyranny and christian dictatorship. When we tear down tyranny for them we tear down tyranny for everyone” ~ AWA

(picture is a guy  named Steve , who just happened to be out on Rte 9W , Kingston NY, about two weeks ago, with a sign that said, BLACK LIVES MATTER… I went over to talk, and he held up both of this signs, and I took that picture…kind of says it all).

I then, was prompted to say the following:
Black lives don’t matter more than other lives,, that’s just a misuse of this by those who honestly just don’t know better , OR by honest racists, who don’t know any better, or DO,,, but to be clear…..its because of our own history, as a predominantly ‘white’ western nation, which we know we all identify with,, (we have ‘demonized’ every ‘new’ group coming into this country, fuck ‘e pluribus unum’), we are unaware of our own history (who’s responsible for that?), and/or we as general ‘generic’ white population ignore minorities’ situations down through our more than 250 years history, and have to be made aware of them but in particular,, we have a UNIQUE situation, which we still have not reckoned with, our, SLAVERY PAST, SLAVE – HOLDING PAST, how that has affected we, the descendants of (north of south, south just held onto it longer), how it affects whites /anglos is you wish….I am reading currently an excellent book which explains a lot of our history on this –  based on usually ignored facts from actual history, something most current people in power, news organizations, the populace, in general, have ‘no clue’ about…..the book, A DISEASE IN THE PUBLIC MIND, a new understanding of why we fought the civil war.. by Thomas Fleming, inspired me, enlightened me, and more. What I am trying to say, is we need a general ‘Truth and Reconciliation’ as did the South Africans, after apartheid.   Currently we still live in a society with a hidden , ‘apartheid’.  Minorities already know this…as South Africa, once had ‘rules’ that blacks and others, or non white skin, can tell you, if we LISTEN, and  even elected officials of minority status can tell you… Mistrust, violence against, young black /brown men especially, and this has intensified in its ferocity since the last election cycle and actually long before, but also intensified since we elected our first African American president. We need a national RECONCILIATION and understanding. Its well overdue time or this, we cannot move forward without it….This is my hope and  plea.  This is my statement of why BLACK LIVES MATTER… DO matter, not any more than another’s matter, in general, but as of historic place of blacks in our ‘peculiar’ history, we need to KNOW this…e.g.’hey, there’s someone else here that matters as much as i do’…..they just want to walk down the street without special warnings and rules that are applied to them that aren’t applied in general to the rest of us… Peace, brothers and sisters… this is my hope and my plea. for understanding…

Humanity, Not Quite Ready for Civilization: Part I

As Vulcans at first thought of us… are we really ready? “While a few human beings are clearly primed for Civilization, and millions more are ready to give Civilization a gung-ho go, far too many are interested in harming one another on the way to material success, in controlling the thoughts and bodies of their neighbors, to protect well the common interests of all. Beyond that, human systems remain tilted in favor of Ayn Randean objectivist demons; the tentacles of the Enemy-Making Machine and the Global Military Industrial Complex stretch near-terminally across our globe like a glioblastoma tumor.”

We must, in short, Civilize. But this will require a massive, pan-global effort which humanity isn’t even close to ready to attempt—let alone attain.

Post-Racial America and the Rev. Al Sharpton

Post Racial America Alert

POST RACIAL AMERICA AND THE REV. AL SHARPTON’?

I have read and heard a lot of Criticism of Rev. Al Sharpton from the Left and right..But, i must say at least, he’s the one that the family invited to the funeral on Monday, (of Michael Brown) in Missouri. He also happens to be the ‘center‘ of the story, wherever he is.. AND…. he is a SPOKESMAN for African Americans on the topic of Civil rights, Inequality, and Hate… Thus, he MUST speak out.. He’s a great speaker… no matter the content. I heard him once in person at a NAACP rally, against ‘stop and frisk’ in NYC a few years ago.
There IS and will continue to be Criticism of him no matter where is..He is not perfect, he takes ‘advantage’ of situations, because he CAN and because he is ‘asked’ to. I don’t agree with a lot of things he says, but he is the PreEminent speaker on Civil Rights today, like him or not.. Is he a ‘race baitor’? Stupid statement or question. He’s black, he’s in America, He will always be the subject of mistrust, hate and more …..nothing we can do about it.
My differences with him, come from the ‘corporate’ (MSNBC ,like it or not, they sell Fossil Fuels industry ‘lies’ all the time)….BS that he spouts sometimes… Can I judge him as civil rights spokesperson, and African American, speaking for his (and MY) people, NO.
Thus as the writer here says:
“The ongoing protests over the tragic shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., have brought much-needed attention to racial tensions as well as the militarization of police forces all over America. “
We need to , as a people, at least to listen to all voices on this, expose hatred, LIES, and Racism wherever we see it… At least that’s how i feel. So, we are stuck with Al. He’s not perfect, many others can do it better. But, Rev. Al is the ‘center of attention’ wherever he is… as I said,, We must not Let HE be the message, but listen to all voices of reason. Just my HO.
