“The enduring attraction of war is this: Even with its destruction and carnage it can give us what we long for in life. It can give us purpose, meaning, a reason for living. Only when we are in the midst of conflict does the shallowness and vapidness of much of our lives become apparent. Trivia dominates our conversations and increasingly our airwaves. And war is an enticing elixir. It gives us resolve, a cause. It allows us to be noble. And those who have the least meaning in their lives, the impoverished refugees in Gaza, the disenfranchised North African immigrants in France, even the legions of young who live in the splendid indolence and safety of the industrialized world, are all susceptible to war’s appeal.”
RED IS THE COLOR OF BLOOD… (UNLESS YOU’RE A FANTASY VULCAN, THEN ITS GREEN)….HOW MUCH BLOOD WAS REALLY SACRIFICED ON 9_11?
MY OWN THOUGHTS ARE COVERED IN MY SMITHSONIAN DIGITAL ARCHIVE….(SEE BELOW)….
Just from a personal point of view…. from my 9_11 story – I ended it with these words……”This event will forever be impressed upon my mind and I can only think of two other events which will have such significance; the day President Kennedy was shot and my own father?s death when I was eight years old in December of 1960.
….”
obviously, with just about everyone reading this ….they can say something similar….I cannot help but every year.. post some of these pictures… talk about my story [available on the 9_11 digital archive at “http://911digitalarchive.org/items/show/6688”%5D , should you be interested in reading it.. I find that each year, seemingly, to me, less and less people respond to this ….I cannot.. I have PTSD diagnosed in NYC a couple months after the event.. I still am processing this.. still in counseling and still ‘getting through’…..I’ll be ok, not without a lot of crying, anxiety and more.. but, as with anyone with PTSD…and you may know someone suffering with this, we cope.. or not… I’m coping after about 5 different psychiatrists and just as many or more counselors…
Just a bit of personal history…..when you hear of veterans or anyone with this.. don’t write it off, as just ’emotional’ etc… its much worse, its real, its what we have to live with.. always open to sharing more,, just ask..PEACE, BROTHERS, SISTERS….COMRADES ..[ a Trump supporter, whose a friend of a friend of mine, sort of, called me SOCIALIST last night, before I was seeing Don Henley in concert at
– well, she called me that, so I ‘m taking it up and realizing, YES, I AM A SOCIALIST.. more and more you’ll hear that in the future (what’s left of it).]..LOVE TO YOU ALL
Grandmother Fish is a delightful new book that teaches our evolutionary history to kids as young as preschool, and its call-and-response structure makes it perfect for public reading. Listen as the book is read live at a Unitarian Universalist church story hour in this video! Kids hoot, squeak, and laugh. The energy in the room builds up step by step. The kids start out wiggling like Grandmother Fish, and they end up wiggling, chomping, crawling, breathing, squeaking, cuddling, grabbing, hooting, walking, and talking like Grandmother Human. Here it is, just in time for school!
